These are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Grades 1-12 School Registration: WHO can Register for Grades 1-12?- Stamford children who did not attend kindergarten in Stamford, are transfering from a Private School or whose parent(s)/guardian(s) have recently moved to Stamford.
- Registration must be done by the child's parent or guardian with proof of guardianship.
- Parents and guardians are required to show a picture ID at the time of Registration.
WHERE do I Register my child?- You may register at your child's Districted School throughout the year, or at the Government Center on specific dates.
- Please call the school to make an appointment and inquire about their summer hours before going there to register your child.
WHAT documents do I need to Register my child? 1. Personal Identification - Proof of Legal Guardianship. Registration can only be done by a parent or legal guardian.
- Photo ID of Parent or Legal Guardian.
- Birth Certificate or Passport for Child – Original only. No copies will be accepted.
2. Proof of Residence in Stamford - A current Rental Lease, or a Deed or Tax bill showing ownership of a residence in Stamford, AND
- A current utility bill – phone, gas, electric or water services.
- A cellular phone bill is not acceptable.
- A phone number listed on a Cablevision bill is acceptable as a utility bill.
- If rent bill includes utilities, one of the following may be submitted: a voided personal check with preprinted home address, a credit card bill or a piece of personal mail delivered to the home address.
- Your name must be on all documents submitted. IMPORTANT: If you are not listed on a lease you must submit a notarized Residency Form.
3. Health Requirements - Proof of Immunization forms, completed by a doctor.
- Proof of Physical Exam form, completed by a doctor, for a physical exam within one year of the beginning of the school year in which the child is enrolling. Children coming from outside the United States must have a physical completed by a U.S. physician.
- Free physicals and immunizations will be provided for children who are uninsured or underinsured and do not have a family physician or personal doctor. Appointments must be made in person at the Office of Family Engagement, 5th Floor, Government Center.
HOW can I get the Official Registration Forms and Instructions (Registration Package)?- Parents and guardians should contact their Districted School or the Office of Family Engagement to obtain the necessary forms and instructions.
- Please call the school to make an appointment and inquire about their summer hours before going there to pick up a Registration Package.
