Literacy
Literacy is the backbone of our educational system. We define literacy as the ability and desire to read and interpret a wide variety of texts at a level that enables successful practice and promotes knowledgeable conversations. We further define literacy as the ability and desire to speak and write effectively to accomplish one’s goals. Literate individuals read, write, and participate in conversations to increase their own and others’ understanding. Supported by high quality instruction that integrates reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and presenting, each and every student will be prepared for higher education and success in the 21st Century. |
