Career and Technical Education: Internships

In conjunction with the Stamford Chamber of Commerce, Stamford Public Schools offers students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in the classroom in a real world setting through paid student internships.

A paid student internship is not just a part time or summer job because the students are carefully prepared and supported throughout their internship experience. A typical internship is 180 hours and can take place after school during the school year, over the summer, or both.

The employers serve as professional mentors, an extremely valuable experience that the students bring back to the classroom to share with their teachers and peers. Students learn to apply an array of workforce skills such as teamwork, time management, critical thinking and ethics, as well as enhancing their professional oral and written communication. This combination of benefits provides a valuable foundation for any career path the student chooses to pursue in the future.
